"Mikemetix Moombahton Meltdown" - Live on WRIR.org 5/2/11

This is a special Moombahton mix that I did as promo for the "Mayday Moombahton" Edition of Afro Beta on May 7th. Moombahton is a pretty new style of music which has heavy house, reggae and reggaeton elements but slowed down to a standard speed of between 106-110 bpms. It was originated by Dave Nada in Washington DC in 2009 and hit worldwide via the internet underground which has allowed it to reach people across the world without a lot of notoriety in the mainstream. A lot of people still don't know that it even exists. You can read more about Dave Nada and the origins of Moombahton here. I've done sets on the show many times in the past couple of months but captured this one for the podcast. Turn on, tune in, and bump dat...

The Electro House Experience Vol. 1 "Pop Top 40oz."
February 08, 2011 10:48 PM PST

Finally got a decent recording of one of my electro house sets so I decided to share it with the masses. This is definitely on the commercial refix tip but, as I always tell people, I don't play anything I don't personally like. Life is too short for that so I search for tracks that bump regardless. This is just a dose of what's been uncovered in the commercial remix vaults...

Black & Yellow - Wiz Khalifa

Controversy - Prince

Dr. Funkenstein - Deadmau5

Animal Rights - Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner

California Love - Tupac

Homecoming - Kanye West

Low - Flo Rida

I've been DJing for a long time by most people's standards (started rocking cookouts in '85), so I've always had a wide range of influences which always come across in the variety of mixes I do. Because I have so many styles and so many mixes from the radio show and other sets, I decided to make a variety of podcasts for different genres of music. This AudioMassTransit page will serve as the gateway to all of the other podcasts and will be the first place I post any of the new mixes. You can check these other podcasts for more flavors:

Waxploitation Vol. II "Blaxploitation on Wax" The Official Version
January 04, 2010 10:58 PM PST

This is an installation from my monthly excursions into drum heavy, sampled soul grooves dubbed the Waxploitation Sessions. I always try to represent with tracks that are good by themselves as well as have some familiarity to hip hop heads bc some of the elements have been looped and refixed in some classic hip hop jams. But even if you're not familiar with them, it's a deep dive into some serious drum beats and grooves from the 70s and beyond.
